The Autism Treatment Controversies – Navigating an Effective Course lecture will be held Sept. 25, at 9 a.m., presented by New Jersey-based, Bancroft Neuro Health  at the Cherry Hill Library.
The keynote speaker, Oliver Mudford, Ph.D., BCBA-D, will discuss various treatment methods for children and adults with autism and other disabilities, and how to determine which ones are effective. As director of the University of Auckland’s post-graduate program in applied behavior analysis (ABA), Dr. Mudford has over 30 years of international experience in providing support to people with disabilities. He has authored many research papers and book chapters, and is on the editorial boards of several professional journals on autism and ABA. 
After the keynote address, a panel of experts will expand on Dr. Mudford’s lecture and provide their own perspectives. They will discuss the impact of environment, neurological functioning, medication and other factors on behavior and choice of interventions. Panelists are:
• Behavioural specialist Dan Baker, Ph.D., of the Boggs Center, New Jersey’s federally designated university center on developmental disabilities
• Neurologist Mark Mintz, M.D., of the Center for Neurological and Neurodevelopmental Health
• Psychiatrist Jim Varrell, M.D., of the Center for Family Guidance
• Caroline Eggerding, M.D., Bancroft’s chief medical officer and vice president of clinical services, who will serve as panel moderato
